本片從招集適合的成員出任《阿波羅十三》的太空任務，到太空船上傳來：「休士頓我們有了麻煩。」開始本片的高潮戲，在艾德哈里斯所飾演的地勤中心領軍下，展開距離地球20500哩的救援行動。他們必須模擬太空船裡所有的狀況，在有限的物力、有限的資源並和時間競賽之下，群策群力，把他們的工作夥伴從無重力、無空氣在太空中飛行的太空人救回地球……

好久的電影了，因該有十年了吧！但確是湯姆先生少見的科幻片。
