Thank you for contacting Auzentech.

1) As you know, the Auzen X-Fi Prelude 7.1 supports 24/196kHz in 2ch stereo sound only.
However, when the Auzen X-Tension HDMI 1.3 is connected with the sound card, the 24/192kHz signal will be transferred to the extension board through the I2S 20PIN port directly without passing through the DAC, then the signal will come out through the HDMI port.

2) The Auzen X-Tension HDMI 1.3 will support those formats below.
8ch audio : DTS HD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD, Dolby Digital, DVD Audio
IEC60958(SPDIF) : 2 ch PCM (up to 192kHz)
IEC61937 Compresssed audio : Dolby Digital, DTS digital audio

The formats is decoded by the application(PowerDVD, etc,,), then the signal is captured and transferred to the extension board in LPCM mode.

We are researching and developing for the highst quality of HDMI transmission and including bitstream mode will be settled in our product line.

初步結論是:

1) 此卡並無任何 HBR (DTS MA, Dolby THD) 解碼功能;
HDR 解碼由 powerDVD 傳送, 然後以 X-Tension 以 LPCM 送出
就目前所知 powerDVD 並無完整解 DTS-MA

2) 硬體規格雖有 HDMI 1.3, 但目前無 HBR bitstream 功能

小結:

a) 此卡目前看來沒有比 Intel G33/G35 內建的 HDMI (8ch LPCM) 多出新花樣

b) HTPC 的 HDMI 瓶頸還是卡在 pci bus 架構和 licensing fee....短期內看不出有很好的解決辦法
