這一期的Total Film雜誌以X戰警：第一戰(X-Men:First Class)為封面，內文並以這部電影作了一個專題，在這期的專題中有一則訪問這兩天被放在Total Film自家的網站，作為該網站的一則獨家新聞。在這則獨家新聞中，訪問了導演Matthew Vaughn與製片、同時是X戰警前兩集的導演Bryan Singer。雖然電影要到6月初才會開始上映，但在這則獨家訪問中，兩人提到了可能拍攝的續集故事方向。
Vaughn先到談X戰警：第一戰，他指出：「第一戰有點類似蝙蝠俠：開戰時刻(Batman Begins)，你(指觀眾)可以在介紹人物時得到觀賞的樂趣，並進而了解他們(指電影裡的人物)，但是這需要時間醞釀(First Class is similar to Batman Begins, where you have the fun of introducing the characters and getting to know them, but that takes time)。」
Vaughn接著表示：「但是到了第二集，你就直接進入狀況，並且渡過愉快的看電影時光，而這就是蝙蝠俠：開戰時刻與黑暗騎士最大的不同點(But with the second one you can just get on with it and have a rollicking good time,That's the main difference between Begins and The Dark Knight.)」
X戰警：第一戰的時間背景是設在1962年，由於國外習慣以每十年(decade)作為一個時期，Vaughn表示：「我認為它(指60年代，也就是1960到1969這個十年的decade)差不多需要花5年的時間才可以建立它的特性，所以，對我來說將續集的時間背景設在這個時期(60年代)的後段才會有趣，(在那段時期)會有滾石合唱團(Rolling Stones，導演簡稱為The Stones)、披頭四(The Beatles)、Flower Power(指的是歐美60年代後期一直到70年代初期的反越戰和平行動).....等(I think it takes about five years for a decade to really start getting its identity, so the fun thing about this for me would be doing [a sequel] in the latter part of the decade, where you've got The Stones, The Beatles, Flower Power…)。」
除了60年代以外，這篇訪問還提到70年代以及80年代，也是計劃中可能的三部曲(trilogy)後面兩集可能的背景年代，Singer表示：「那是我們討論過的構想，這些角色如何經歷過這些時期。但是必須注意一點－－他們不能老得太快(That's an idea that's been discussed, How the characters go through time. But only to a point – they can't age too fast!)」
