預定明年6月8日上片、由異形(Alien)第一集的導演Ridley Scott執導的普羅米修斯(Prometheus)，到底是不是異形的前傳，一直是國外媒體最好奇的。最近，普羅米修斯的編劇Damon Lindelof在參加Kevin Pollack的談話節目時，對這個話題有一些相關的發言。Screen Rant網站摘錄了一些Lindelof的說法。
「(這個劇本)是以異形前傳為開端。這是大家都想要的發展....。但有一個真正的問題是，異形系列電影現在在我們的生活中是什麼狀態？已經有異形戰場(Alien vs. Predator)，以及所有這些事情(應該是指異形後面的幾部電影)，它已經被完全的稀釋掉了。『我一直覺得真正好的前傳電影必須是原創電影(original movies)。而這些(原創的)前傳電影的續集，不一定是已經存在的，』因為，請恕我對那些拍前傳電影的人直言，我們為什麼要看三部基本上已經破壞驚喜的電影，(這些電影)破壞了影史最偉大的(劇情)轉折，像『路克，我是你的父親』(帝國大反擊的經典台辭)(It started as an Alien prequel. That is what everybody wanted it to be … But there is a real issue which is — what is the state of the Alien franchise at this point in our lives? There has been Alien vs. Predator and all these things, and its been completely and totally diluted. I’ve always felt that really good prequels should be original movies. And the sequels to those prequels should not be the movie which already exists because, with all due respect to anyone who makes a prequel, but why would you ruin the greatest twist in the history of cinema, “Luke, I am your father”, by showing me three movies which basically spoil that surprise?)」
「(所以)給我看別的東西，一些我無法猜到結局的東西。必然發展(的故事)是沒有懸疑性的。因此，一個真正的前傳基本應該上發生在原始電影(指第一集)的故事之前，但是內容(與第一集)完全不同、不同的人物、不同的主題，雖然發生在(與第一集)相同的世界。那是我對這部電影會被拍成的樣子的基本感覺。(Show me something else which I can’t guess the possible outcome of. There is no suspense in inevitability. So a true prequel should essentially precede the events of the original film, but be about something entirely different, feature different characters , have an entirely different theme, although it takes place in that same world. That was my fundamental feeling about what this movie wanted to be.)」
Lindelof的發言內容，其實會讓人產生聯想。一部以異形前傳為主軸開始籌拍的電影，到了今年年初卻突變成號稱是原創電影的普羅米修斯(詳見本人在第二頁34樓的發言)，這個創作突變的過程讓很多人感興趣。而Lindelof的這句話：『我一直覺得真正好的前傳電影必須是原創電影(original movies)。而這些(原創的)前傳電影的續集，不一定是已經存在的』，如果對照導演Ridley Scott去年中在宣傳他所執導的電影羅賓漢(Robin Hood)時，宣稱異形前傳會有兩部的說法，可以發現編劇與導演的說法其實是相當吻合的。尤其是導演在今年初表示，異形的死忠粉絲可以在普羅米修斯一片中看出「異形的DNA」。最近在X戰警：第一戰(X:Men:First Class)片中飾演年輕版萬磁王的德國籍演員Michael Fassbender，他前一陣子在接受MTV電影部落格(MTV Movie Blog)記者Josh Wigler訪問時，就語出驚人地表示，普羅米修斯絕對與異形電影有明確的血脈相連(詳見本人第二頁39樓的發言)。種種跡象看來，普羅米修斯應該就是異形的前傳，只是與異形的關係，可能要到第二部前傳拍出來之後，才會完全銜接起來。
