The World's First VariDoF Camcorder to be shown at NAB 2012

As professional camcorder sales become more and more dominated by large sensor cameras designed to emulate the aesthetically pleasing shallow DoF (depth of field) normally associated with 35mm film, VariDoF Corporation Inc. have developed a truly revolutionary new opto-electronic technology called VariDoF which permits a camera to vary the Depth of Field of its'output image in real-time without any change in lens focal length or aperture.
This is achieved through the combination of a super high resolution CMOS sensor, sophisticated secondary optics and a custom-manufactured RISC processing engine.
With VariDoF a DoP can now 'pull DoF', opening up a whole new dimension of creative possibilities.
Corporation are the first camera manufacturer to licence VariDoF and their first production camera to incorporate VariDoF will be showcased at the NAB Show in Las Vegas from 16-19 April 2012.
's PMW-V350 is distinguished from its conventional sibling by a slightly elongated sensor block housing and VariDoF control port. The effective sensor size can be accessed and preset through the camera's internal menu system. Preset sizes are 1/3", 1/2", 2/3", s16 and s35. A VDC-R1 remote controller can be connected to the VariDoF port via cable (or Wi-Fi) to provide a precise control surface for real-time DoF control. The PMW-V350 features a 2/3" B4 type lens mount as standard, meaning that the camera can natively accommodate a wide range of industry-standard ENG, EFP and Cine-Style lenses. The lens mount is inter-changeable so the system can be easily calibrated to accept any lens from 1/3" to PL mount with the secondary lens system compensating automatically for the different projected image sizes.
