Maximum power for maximum pleasure in home theaterAs one of the most powerful Cinema/hifi-subwoofers in the market, the SUB 3X12 is able to achieve an unbelievably high SPL even in the lowest frequencies. But it's not only the volume that is astonishing, it's also the smoothness and easiness at which this subwoofer is acting in the entire bass frequency range.
Extremely inert cabinetTo ensure that there are no resonances within the cabinet that affect the sound quality, a large effort was made to construct the cabinet as solidly as possible. Starting with the trapezoidal shaped cabinet, the walls are constructed with 25 mm MDF, reinforced with 40 mm thick bracing, while the 2 layer baffle totals a stout 55 mm thick. The base adds an additional 30 mm to the cabinet bottom for a total of 55 mm to fix the cabinet to the floor and insure all of the high energy transients are reproduced faithfully. Inside, the cabinet is well treated with multiple layers of acoustical damping material. Lastly, the front of the cabinet is elegantly finished with 8 layers of hand rubbed satin black paint to work well with any room décor.
Trapezoid shaped cabinetThe trapezoid shape give not only a neat and advanced design look its also reduces internal reflections and furthermore it optimizes the stability of the cabinet.
3 x 12" High speed driverWe call the driver high speed drivers because we use a very light cone material and a very strong motor(magnet)structure and it makes for very fast drivers. We spent years to find a material this light and still with enough stiffness.
The combination of weight and stiffness is one of the most critical factors in a driver construction.
We required the subwoofer to provide very high sound pressure levels yet remain precise and true to the original music, this challenge we met by using the specially developed low-mass long throw driver. The 12” cone consists of a very strong, long fiber pulp blended material optimizing the diaphragm’s stiffness to weight ratio. Additional advantages of our custom designed driver include:

Long stroke driverThe extremely high quality of all components in the Cinema Series is continued with the extraordinary bass drivers that is used in the SUB 3X12. To perform the long strokes with a maximum of linearity, we developed a special NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) surround.
High speed drivers, powerful and deep base need big boxes! Supercars not use one piston engine! We choose 3 fast and light drivers to give both high speed and maximum dynamic sound. This also produces a very high SPL and to achieve the highest SPL even down to the lowest frequencies the boxes need to be big. This is just pure physics.
An optimized volume for the driver gives the perfect air resistant to the driver. It leads to highest SPL in low frequencies with maximum headroom from the amp. Too small or too big boxes leads to over damped or underdamped boxes and that increases the distortion. A box with an optimal volume gives low distortion and the widest frequency response possible and it means the subwoofer reaches the lowest and deepest bass keeping the sound clean of distorsion. This also means there is no need to boost the amplifier and its gives also maximum headroom and lowest possible distortion from the amplifier.

3x 900 W Claridy Class-D Amplifier = 2700 Watt (Peak)!
One mono-block Claridy amplifier for each driver. Each mono-block has an extraordinary high power output of 500 W RMS / 900 W in peak wattage output whenever it is needed for a total of 1500 W RMS / 2700 W Peak. In contrast to many other class-D amplifiers, the Claridy amp has a near ideal clipping characteristics which ensures maximum headroom capability by minimizing the use of limiting circuitry. Never before experienced amount of details and maximum performance is the result of years of design refinement.
Class D amplifiers work in a different way than A, B, or A/B amplifiers.
Since Class D (“switching”) amplifiers can turn fully on or off, they can dramatically increase the mid and bass output power while minimizing the loss of power, making for a highly efficient amplifier that is very suitable for subwoofers.
Since it eliminates the need for huge power transformers, banks of output transistors, and huge extruded aluminum heat-sinks, Class D amplifiers are remarkably compact for the amount of power they produce.
Class D technology is very effective and a good illustration of the efficiency of Class D amplification is to imagine a chip-sized module that is 3” wide, 5” deep and just 1.5” in height producing up to 500 W all while delivering 90% of the power it receives to the loudspeakers, making this Class D technology a perfect fit also for the environment and to save energy.
In the past, Class D amplifiers had limited applications because of distortion challenges. But by using state-of-the-art Claridy amp technology we acheive amps with precise sound free of distortion and unwanted noise.
Twisted internal cableThe internal cabling is realized in 99.99% pure copper wire, which guarantees highest signal transparency. The structure is twisted pair configuration to reduce skin effects and interferences we use low inductance twisted pair wiring. The construction idea is Zero Noice cable, CMRR (Common Motor Rejection Ratio ) (reduction of overhearing)
Room-tuning and sound adjustmentsTo provide an optimal sound quality, suited to various room sizes and listener tastes, the SUB 3X12 is equipped with a lot of possibilities to adjust the sound adequately.
Since the SUB 3X12 has its -3dB point at very deep 16Hz, we decided to add a special Room Gain EQ that takes the room gain into account. Additional adjustments can be done by closing the slot bass port with the provided plug. So the 1X12 offers perfect bass at any time. Further refinements can be made with adjustment of the two EQ’s available and of course volume, phase, and crossover frequency.
Other possibilitiesSUB 3X12 can be stacked on top of eachother as a line array system.
