在 CEDIA 會場之外, JVC 展示了 4Kx2K 的 3x LCoS projector

D-ILA light valve: 1.27" arranged in 4,096x2400 pixel array.
Output: 3,500 lumens via 825W Xenon,
C/R: 10,000:1 on/off and 300:1 ANSI CR, 825W Xenon lamp
Weight: 110 lbs.

15-minute kung-fu non-event (David Carradine 扮演商店老闆),
以 native 4K 拍攝/剪輯/播放未壓縮影片 @10bit per R/G/B channel,
流量高達 400Mb/frame (10Gbit/sec, aproxi 1.2GByte/sec) via SDI,
一顆 500GB HDD 只夠播放七分鐘不到.
一部完整電影當然就需要近二十顆 500GB HDD 陣列.
這在記錄方式沒有進入 per Molecular 或 Crystal structure 之前
大概是不可能在我們的 HT room 存在的 ．

且不論解析度, Uncompressed video 每個 pixel 都有這明確的定義,
每個 Frame 都是栩栩如生的 50MByte PNG 檔,
這比起壓縮後鬆散的商業軟體(不論是 BD, HD-DVD,....)可說是天壤之別.

傳言 Meridian booth 有 exclusive consumer sales @US$80K.

JVC was showing their prototype 9.8Mega Pixel PJ at an off-site location a block away from the CEDIA main floor. Easily the best picture of the show as it should be with four times the resolution of 1080P HD.

The D-ILA light valve is 1.27" arranged in 4,096x2400 pixel array. The PJ outputs 3,500 lumens, has a 10,000:1 on/off and 300:1 ANSI CR, 825W Xenon
lamp and weighs a svelte 110 lbs.

The movie they were showing was a 15-minute kung-fu non-event (David Carradine played an old shop-keeper) shot in native 4K, edited and played back in uncompressed format. The talking head said the data rate was 400Mb/frame but that didn't sound right since that would be about 10Gbit/sec.

Doesn't matter, the picture, on a 16'-20' wide screen was absolutely the sharpest I've ever seen. Color was good, black level was good, total impact was a sinking feeling in my stomach. The bar has been raised. The new Holy Grail.

Everything else at the show looked a little "soft". Yeah, TI's new Darkchip 4 was good, Sony's new PJ's impressive, even JVC's RS2, with a native chip resolution of 40,000:1 was very nice but I'm ruined.

It will be a while before 4K resolution becomes a consumer format. Even if you could buy one, for something north of $100K, you couldn't play a HiDef DVD on it. It doesn't support HDCP encryption.

But it would make for some great home movies. Just add a Red 4K video camera to the package. Only $25K additional.

太樂觀了吧, asa 兄 ．

一個制式(1920x1080 compressed video)只要進入廣播成為公共媒體,
所有的相關產業就要講求互通性, 一方面成為現階段的動力,
但是也成為下個階段 (4Kx2K umcompressed video) 的阻力.
NTSC 成為主流已經超過半個世紀, 到目前還是賴著不走的主流 .

原文上說不支援HDCP??
這樣都不能接現有的player了.好爛....

和Red One 4K攝影機是絕配!
這樣組合拿來拍home video比BD畫質還棒....

進入民用巿場，還是會壓縮畫質吧....
不過就算壓縮了，短期內也無媒體可以儲存
