Catalyst v5.6 Released

今天下午才裝上 Calalyst v5.5, 搞了兩個小時的 PowerStrip;
剛剛發現, ATI 竟然又放出 v5.6 with WMV-acceleration ENABLED.

How to enable DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA) in Windows Media Player 10
The following steps will help you enable
DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA) within Windows Media Player 10


1.     Install Catalyst 5.6 or higher.  Drivers before Catalyst 5.5 to not support  DXVA acceleration
a.      Reboot

2.     Install Windows DRM update
a.      http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=73C2650F-BE61-4BD6-8408-1FD6E7827CD8
b.     Reboot

3.     Install the following Windows Media Player Hotfix

4. Go into Catalyst Control Center.  Switch to Advanced view

5. Go to the Video, All Settings

6. Scroll to the bottom of the Catalyst Control Page to find the Windows Media Setting option and ensure Windows Media Video Acceleration is checked on.

7. Start Windows Media Player 10, go into Tools, Options (if the menu bar is not available, double the click title bar to dispaly)

8. Open the Performance tab and click Advanced under Video Acceleration

9. Ensure Use high quality mode is selected. Click OK, OK.

根據這篇討論, 很多用家轉回去用 Catalyst v5.5~

根據使用 NV GF 6600 經驗, play mpeg2-ts 時 KMPlayer + nv decoder + superspeed mode 選 VMR9 windowed mode 相當於 MP10 高畫質 mode, 因為 nv decoder 顯示同樣的硬件加速解碼狀況, 至於 WMVHD 未詳細比較過畫面, 但從 CPU 使用率相當, 猜測應該情況類似 !
