350 and 550 都support xvYCC, 但不如 PS3 可支援 SACD

The players support AVCHD discs encoded with x.v.Color (xvYCC) technology, an international standard for wide color space reproduction. The standard expands the current data range of video by about 1.8 times, allowing the players to output more natural and vivid colors similar to what the human eye can actually see. The players also feature compatibility with an array of video formats, including BD-R/RE (BDMV and BDAV modes), DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW, CD, CD-R/RW (CD-DA format), and JPEG on DVD//CD recordable media.
Both models are the Sony’s first dedicated Blu-ray players to offer BD Live, Deep Color, x.v. color and all of the optional surround-sound formats authorized for use on Blu-ray discs,

Written by Tom Philp | NEW YORK - Sony has begun shipping its new BDP-S350 Blu-ray Disc Player, a unit that purports to be about 40 per cent smaller than the previous generation and to use considerably less power to operate. The Sony BDP-S350 and BDP-S550 (bottom) blu-ray disc players.
The BDP-S350 player has open-distribution status, and will be BD Live upgradeable sometime this fall.
Sony said the new player, which carries an opening price point of US$399, has a six-second boot-up time, a feature that will be offered on all Sony Blu-ray players, including the next-level BDP-S550 ($499) shipping sometime in Q3 of this year.
When it's available, the BDP-S550 will be BD Live capable immediately, include a 1GB USB flash drive for extra memory, 7.1-channel analog outputs, Deep Color, x.v. color and all of the optional surround-sound formats authorized for use on Blu-ray discs, said Chris Fawcett, Sony vice president of home video marketing.
The BDP-S350 also features Deep and x.v. color.
